CHARLES BANH AND MAX THOMAS
One could say that Max Thomas was born to be a dental tech. From the young age of five, Max has been raised in the lab environment and among passionate dental technicians. Before Max was given the handpiece and the opportunity to manage the family business, he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business, and explored other career opportunities away from his hometown. Max’s drive to learn and lead in the dental field brought him back to the family business and earned him the honor of being featured in a 2018 IDT Magazine article named “The next Generation speaks.”. He strives to inspire the next generation of dental technicians within his lab, and labs in the surrounding areas. Max served as President of the Oregon Association of Dental Labs in both 2020 and 2023. This service gave him insight into the future of dentistry and how today’s decision making can empower the next generation of leaders. Today, Max is the General Manager and Vice President of his family’s dental lab, Crown Creations Inc. He leads with a positive and can-do attitude and pushes his team to do the same. Max specializes in full mouth rehabilitation and heavily focuses on both fixed and implant supported restorations. As the industry continues to change and grow, Max is looking to the future and has high hopes that his now five year old daughter, Silver, will one day join the team and become a third generation lab owner.
Charles Banh is the owner of Ceramics West Dental Lab which is focused on guided surgery and full arch restorations. He is a technician with almost 15 years experience in guided surgery and implant restorations and is a denturist candidate for the boards. In 2020 he was a recipient of the Academy of Osseointegration Student Foundation Award for his case study on scanning anterior implants and in 2021 was named one of the top 40 lab technicians in the US under the age of 40. He has published articles in Implant Practice and Implant Tribune and his part time practice is limited to full arch restorations. He is a Straumann key opinion leader and speaks nationally to both laboratory technicians and clinicians on guided surgery and full arch restorations. He attended American University for denturism and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkely with majors in Microbiology and Chemistry.
